Ingredient

  • 12 Pork belly strips

  • 1 tsp (5 mL) coarse sea salt

  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) freshly ground pepper

  • 1 tsp (5 mL) smoked paprika

  • 12 skewers

Sauce:

  • 2 Tbsp (30 mL) honey

  • 2 Tbsp (30 mL) tomato ketchup

  • 2 Tbsp (30 mL) finely chopped onion

  • 1 Tbsp (15 mL) cider vinegar

  • 1 Tbsp (15 mL) water

  • 1/2 Tbsp (7 mL) Dijon or prepared mustard

  • 1/2 Tbsp (7 mL) Worcestershire sauce

Directions

  1. Pre-soak wooden skewers or long toothpicks in water for 1 hour to prevent burning. Thread pork onto skewers.

  2. Lay pork strips on a plate and season both sides with salt, pepper and paprika.

  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the strips of pork belly for 2-3 minutes, flip and grill another 2-3 minutes. When the pork has cooked through, remove from the grill and place on a paper towel lined tray.

  4. For the sauce: In a small saucepan combine honey, ketchup, onions, vinegar, water, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Serve with pork skewers.
