Candied Bacon with Pecans
Go ahead and double this recipe as it will not last long! If you do have leftovers, chop and add to roasted Brussel sprouts for a delicious side dish!

Ingredient
12 thick cut bacon slices
1/2 cup (125 mL) pure maple syrup
1/4 cup (60 mL) brown sugar
1/4 tsp (1 mL) cayenne pepper
1/4 cup (60 mL) chopped pecan pieces
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 °F (200 °C) and set rack in middle position. Line a large baking sheet with tin foil. Place baking rack over lined sheet.
Arrange bacon in a single layer on the rack and bake for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl whisk together maple syrup, brown sugar, cayenne and pecans.
Remove pan from the oven and flip bacon over. Using a spoon spread maple syrup mixture evenly over bacon. Place pan back in oven and continue cooking for 15 minutes or until bacon is crisp and brown.
Remove from oven and allow to cool on rack for about 5 minutes.
