The Banff Pork Seminar is a technology transfer meeting for the pork industry that has been held in Banff, Alberta, Canada since 1972. The conference program is coordinated by the Department of Agricultural, Food & Nutritional Science, University of Alberta, in cooperation with Alberta Pork, Alberta Agriculture and Forestry and other pork industry representatives.
Offering a view to the future in its plenary sessions and practical "take home" information in its breakout sessions, the Banff Pork Seminar now attracts more than 600 delegates from all across Canada, the USA, Europe and Asia. Our attendees represent all aspects of pork production and every large pork organization and business is well represented at our Seminar. As such, it is now the premier pork educational seminar in North America.
The Banff Pork Seminar is held at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Banff, AB, Canada. Located in the heart of Canada’s beautiful Rocky Mountains, visitors will find time to relax and reflect on magnificent scenery and superb ski runs. Banff is easily accessible from the Calgary International Airport by shuttle bus or rental car (approximately 1.5 hr drive).
The ultimate responsibility for the success of the Banff Pork Seminar rests with the Advisory Committee whose members represent organizations with a major role in the sponsorship and organization of the Seminar and the interests of the pork industry at large. The Banff Pork Seminar Advisory Committee elects industry representatives to serve for a term of 3 years. If you are interested in joining the BPS Advisory Committee, please contact a current member.
