Perfect Pork Souvlaki

Ingredient:

  • 1 tsp (5 mL) seasoning salt

  • 1 tsp (5 mL) pepper

  • 1 tsp (5 mL) garlic powder

  • 1 tsp (5 mL) oregano

  • ¼ cup (60 mL) olive oil

  • ¼ cup (60 mL) lemon juice

  • 4 lbs (2 kg) Verified Canadian pork loin, cubed

Directions:

  1. In a bowl with a lid or a ziplock bag combine seasoning salt, pepper, garlic powder and oregano. Add olive oil and lemon juice. Shake well.

  2. Add pork cubes to bowl or ziplock bag, mix thoroughly and marinate for at least 2 hours. Turn occasionally to coat meat evenly.

  3. Remove pork from marinade; discard remaining marinade. Thread pork on to skewers.

  4. Pre-heat BBQ to 400ºF (200ºC). Place skewers in a single layer and cook approximately 10 minutes, or 5 minutes on each side. Meat should have a safe internal temperature of 155°F (68°C), Cover loosely with foil and let stand 3-5 minutes to a Health Canada-recommended final internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) before serving.
